The fifth day of the Dehradun- Tubingen Summer School was dedicated to discussing issues around waste management. It began with a presentation by Dr. Soumya Prasad of Dehradun-based Do-No-Trash initiative on the impacts of waste on the flora and fauna of the region. She explained the cycle of waste in the city and what steps can be taken to address the problems around it. A discussion followed where students of both the cities discussed possible interventions at the level of the citizens to bring change. Besides, there were film screening by Sofia Porscha, Leonie and Melissa Froemel, students of the University of Tubingen which showcased how eco-friendly packaging was being accepted by the citizens and how products can be recycled and reused.
